I first visited Japan in October 2005 when my husband and I fulfilled a lifelong dream to visit the country for our honeymoon. After this first trip we were hooked and saved like mad to go back, this time for a month in the summer. Since then we've been back one more time to spend a very magical Christmas and New Year in Osaka and Tokyo.
Ever since that first trip I've been learning Japanese. At first I studied from books at home. I really enjoyed learning how to read and write kanji, it was like cracking a secret code. Since then I've spent a little time at university, taken some night classes, passed the N5 JLPT exam and I'm currently having private lessons.
Trapped in Leeds, West Yorkshire - a million miles from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo or the history and tradition of Kyoto - I get my Japan fix by hunting out a little bit of Japan here in the UK (or anywhere else for that matter!) and online. I'm always on the lookout for Japanese restaurants, shops that sell Japanese products, museums with Japanese exhibits and fun Japan-related events.
I hope that Itsumo Japan will become a useful resource of all things Japanese and will be helpful for anyone that loves Japan as much as I do.
