On a recent short visit to London, on my way to Piccadilly Circus, I happened across a little gem of a Japanese supermarket. Just up the road from the Rice Wine Shop (another great little Japanese supermarket) and not too far from the mainstays of Japanese culture in London - the Japan Centre and Mitsukoshi department store is Arigato.

Arigato is a small but well-stocked shop. About the same size as the Rice Wine Shop but a little better organised it packs in a wide variety of imported Japanese food, snacks and drinks. As with all Oriental supermarkets it is quite expensive but there are plenty of interesting treats to buy. Arigato's main bonus though is its deli counter which serves delicious looking onigiriyakitori, tonkatsu and other snacks to eat-in or takeaway.

Examples of products for sale:

Noodles and rice
Sweets and snacks
Soft drinks and teas
Japanese beer and spirits
Fresh deli products such as onigiri and tonkatsu
